REPORT 001 :: CONSCRIPTION // ACTION

[There is a girl in a delicate sundress advancing through the snow with her head down, stopping behind every tree big enough to cover her position, to look at the area around her. She shivers, and her hair had collected frost that had stuck on her blond hair, but her eyes continuously scan every tree in the environment with distrust and paranoia, ignoring the environment around her, as if she was being hunted.

Those that have spent time in the military would recognize her movements resembled that of a soldier. A weaponless soldier without protective armor or equipment, but a soldier nonetheless.

More specifically, a SPARTAN-II. And a Spartan was never weaponless.

Her breathing condenses with the frigid air around her, but she ignores it. This girl continues advancing through the forest, but she abruptly stops mid-way, looking at something in the snow, for a long moment uncaring of the alien woods that held her. She slowly bends down, and picks it up.

She mutters to herself.]

I've seen this before... I left this back there.

Oh, you've never been to Earth?! It's beautiful! [Okay, topic she can jump on, go!] Luceti looks a lot like it, actually, but no matter where you go it's filled with people and interesting things like big cities or fields or... penguins!

Oh, I wish you could see some of the places I've been... I wonder if I can find pictures in the library...

Penguins? [She knew mostly about African animals, which had the names of many UNSC vehicles. But that's one animal she had always thought curious.] You mean the small, black-and-white birds?

I've read it is one of the human worlds with the most fauna. The biggest cities. The most protected forests. I've always read it is the Rome of humanity. [She looks at the forest.] But I think it's something you need to see to understand.

Are there not a lot of forests or cities on other worlds, or just that Earth has more? [...Are other planets rural :|a

But then she focuses on part one belatedly, after taking another sip. It is as if the coffee animates her-]

...But yeah! Penguins, they're black and white and stand upright, walking around. They can't fly, but they can swim. They're really cute, I can't find one here but I've got a lot of toy ones I could show you later.

All other planets have them, even their own fauna. [Hmmm... Moa.] but Earth has always been hailed as the center of architectural, urban, and ecological planning. Some species have even been imported to the colonies.

But I think I've never seen penguins, but I'd love to.

[Wait. Penguins in Luceti?]

...These animals are in Luceti?

Well, I found a real one once... but it was during an experiment, so that might have just been a person who was transformed into one. [She hopes not and will never say that to Sokka, but no point lying to Daisy]

[This... disturbs Daisy quite a bit.]

I see.

[Ignoring that for the sake of her fleeting sanity, she decides to know more about this place.]

I only saw a handful of small animals around the forest. [Which she did her best not to alert, and wonders if there could be other kinds of fauna here.] Is there the chance penguins might be in Luceti, or bigger animals? [If there are Gutas in here? fml.]

Well... I think there's a few bears, and I've heard about there being goats and big cats up in the mountains... [She starts to count on her fingers at this point, thinking about every animal she's seen here] But I've never seen any of those, but I have seen birds, fish in the lakes, squirrels, chipmunks, deer, some people have pet cats or dogs, ferrets, mice, ...oh! I saw a turtle once, um. [... ...] I think there's bats, but I've never gotten a good look at them... Lizards, and then of course all sorts of bugs when it's warmer out.

[...And then the bombshell]

...And there's a big wolf named Moro in the forest who everyone is really careful about.

[SPARTAN-023 nods as she listens about the variety of fauna, taking note of possible threats and sources of food, should things turn serious. Nothing seemingly strange, animals hailing from Earth, and no creatures that would be native to colonies from her world. The bears and big cats would be probable threats if she wandered underequipped into the mountains, but nothing significant.

Then she hears about the big wolf Moro.]

Say again?

[Why would magic-wielders fear a wolf?]

Moro. I've um... only seen her from a distance but she's a wolf almost as big as a small train car? [Welp, that might have been too much, oh well]

People make warnings about her sometimes. She only lives in the forest, but she doesn't like bad people or demons and so she likes to just keep people in general out of the forest. [...Wait she should amend-] Moro can talk.

[Oh, here's something else she wants to call bull on. But, there are native creatures that are several feet tall in many other Colonies, that can be conveniently bothersome to an unhindered Spartan. So...]

Canine species, somewhat bigger than a Guta, territorial. If our powers were above that thing, it'd be dead by now. [She notes to herself the traits of the creature. And theorizes why would it still exist, with a sizable civilization nearby.

...But, well, it also talks.]

It talks?

Yeah, she talks. [...All animals talk, just most of them aren't very good at it. But somehow, that seems something to mention later. But dead. That made her wince. But that's something she should clarify-]

But about dead people... it works a little different here.

[If Daisy had actually stopped to listen the animals... Or maybe it's better she hasn't. Otherwise, her sanity would've been gone to hell already.

Just before she facepalmed, she heard the suggestion that Death could be different here.]

Excuse me?

[She couldn't wait to hear this one.]

Um. ...Dead people come back to life after about a week.

[There's... no other way to put this]

[She looks at Charlotte for a long time, her expression changing to disbelief. She was lying. This was not real. Daisy had died before coming here. She felt that needle. Her heart stopped pumping blood. People do not return from the dead. She had seen far too many die for this to be real.

She nerviously shakes her head.]

No. No, it can't be. [She speaks trying to imitate her normal tone, but she was on the verge of losing it. She knew in part what was she talking about, but didn't know how to accept it.]

It's the end of biological functions. It's the end of life.

It can't be.

[Welp. Here goes her sanity. Should've mentioned she was dead before coming here.]

[...Mm. Well. That's about where she was back then. After all, Haltman had only just- the reality of death had only just sunk in for her. that said, she can't know all the other things]

...It's true though.

[Daisy knows she was speaking the truth, but it all seems unreal. She wants to dismiss this all as a dying dream. That was the only explanation she could muster for everything, even with the foreign pain of her newfound wings.

But even if it was, falling into desperation would do little to help her.

She holds her chocolate with both hands, she shrinks almost to the height of Charlotte, and her wings slowly contract. She was a SPARTAN. She had to behave like one. SPARTAN-023 is still visibly disturbed by the revelation, but she knows she has to cope. She quietly asks.]

How long did it take you to get used to this?

Well... I think I sort of just ignored what I couldn't get used to at first? I guess I was used to the village and the wings within a month but everything else... I tried not to think about it at first.

[A pause, and then a sip]

By the time I did stop to think about it I was "used" to it anyway.

[It's the same way she and the rest of the trainees got to adapt to their new lives. In many ways, this is the SPARTAN-II Project all over again... But for a different purpose.]

I see.

[Daisy answers honestly, shivering somewhat, remembering she was still in her sundress in the cold. She notices her chocolate was getting cold. She drinks from it.

If this girl had adapted in this place, so would she.]

Thank you, Charlotte. [She mutters.] For your help. For this.

...You're welcome! [Now, standing, she takes initiative because she should at least try to help her out]

Now, do you want me to help you find some winter clothes? Or should I just show you where you can find a map for everything?

[The tall woman looks at Charlotte. In spite of the magic she lacked in this place, she knew how to reach out to people. Even Spartans.]

...Clothes would be fine.

[Daisy holds herself, not raising her knees to avoid knocking the table over. The Spartan then carefully pushes herself away from the table, and follows the pink-haired buxom girl, driving even Daisy to raise her eyes to look at her in spite of her small stature.

She wondered for a moment that, had she not become a Spartan, if she would have grown to become someone like the princess.]

Okay... like I said, I'm not sure if we can find something in your size because I've never seen a girl as tall as you... [...or a guy, now she thinks of it. Oh well, she shakes her head before ambling towards the door once more. She feels bad the other is still badly dressed for the weather but, oh well. ~~ignore she didn't clean up the table she is a princess she didn't think of it okay~~

But, before she opens it she turns back and smiles encouragingly like]

But if we can't find anything that fits you in the main store, we can get Shiki to make something for you at All Passions. Okay?

...I understand. [Hell, all of the suits they had to wear after their augmentations had to be custom tailored. The Chief Petty Officer doubts the store would have for her something more than a pieces of clothing meant for medical conditions. But between that, and remaining with a sundress during winter, she decides to try.

She leaves the cup on the table, and continues, before she hears the other option, which makes her raise her head.]

You have a tailor in here?

[...

Daisy unconsciously looks down at Charlotte's assets.

Then again, she comes to think, there was no way they would've had her measures in standard issue uniforms, even if she was a Princess.]

[Okay, now for the march towards the main clothing story! But she taps her lips, considering... hum. Oh] Well... there is a seamstress? Shiki's pretty good at what she does, and she likes to make sure people are dressed well... she runs a little store- it's called All Passions, like I said.

All Passions. [Daisy mutters to herself to remember it.

Upon reaching the store, the taller woman hesitates. She had never been in a civilian environment with these conditions -unarmored, unarmed, and without even military clothing-. She feels overwhelmed. Exposed. A part of her knows she shouldn't feel that way. Yet she does.]

How many are usually inside?

[...Uh. Well, that's a good question. She considers a moment before deciding to give as close of approximation as she can, resting her hand on the door]

Maybe a dozen at most? Is that okay?
