[Comm matters taken care of, she goes to House Twenty, having quite remembered the matter of the hat, and it's implications. With two knocks on the front door, the armored figure calls out.]

[After that...]

[Later in the day, having gotten the package, the 7ft tall girl in red armor goes to the Clinic, hat in hand, to see if there's equipment there to see if there are hairs in it to analyze for DNA. Yes, for her, that damned hat is that important.]

That's okay, I figured you were probably busy. I haven't touched the hat at all since I put it in the freezer... is that okay?

[He grabs a cookie to feed to Sial as a distraction before going over to the refrigerator and opening the freezer portion, carefully extracting the hat and holding it cautiously between two fingers almost as if he's afraid to touch it too much.]

Should I put it in a box or something?

[The Chief sees the pet wander off with curiosity. She also appreciates Emil's delicacy towards the hat. Her head tilts sideways, inspecting it.]

Do you have a sealed container, sir?

[Maybe it was hoping too much.]

[Emil tilts his head for a moment as well, thinking.]

I'm not sure I have anything big enough to seal it in. I could put it in a box, but that's about it. I don't think that's going to keep the DNA or whatever it's called from getting away.

[Because he... is assuming that DNA is like tiny fleas or something.]

...It won't, sir.

[To be fair, she's about as well versed when it comes to other laws of reality.]

Only concern is deterioration. Gonna check at the clinic if there's a way to freeze with without polluting the samples.

I bet Doctor McCoy would know about that-- he comes from a world that has spaceships and stuff, so he probably knows all kinds of things about technology.

--He's from a space-faring era?

[This gives her some hope.]

[SPARTAN-023 noticed the ice cream on the freezer. She's glad the hat wasn't that much polluted, in any way.]

Yeah, he's a medical officer on a big spaceship called the Enterprise. He showed me some images of it once. He might be able to help you preserve the DNA or whatever it's called.
