REPORT 020 :: PRINCESS // VIDEO
[The feed reveals... Hair. A lot of it. There seems to be an apartment beneath it, too. A certain Daisy is the source, with the most exasperated expression ever.]
I need assistance.
[Once the feed shuts down, Daisy wonders how easy would it be to find her combat knife and some scissors.]
I need assistance.
[Once the feed shuts down, Daisy wonders how easy would it be to find her combat knife and some scissors.]
[Voice]
Thank you, Nel. Just be careful. Don't let the crazy hit you.
[Meaning, suddenly believing you're from a fairy tale.]
[Voice/Action]
[The book closes, but only a few minutes afterwards there's a gentle rap on Daisy's door. Looks like either Nel can move at the speed of sound (true) or she was walking and carrying the journal at the same time (also true).]
[Action]
...
The apprentice of Valvalis greets you from a sea of gold, Neliel tu Oderschvank.]
Sorry about the mess.
[Action]
The fact that Val has as much hair doesn't really help, because Nel's never met anyone aside from her lover who has that much...
She shakes her head to clear it and gives Daisy a slight smile.]
Not at all. With any luck, we'll be able to clean it up quickly.
[Action]
Come in, Nel. [Daisy notices she didn't call her "ma'am".] Watch your step.
[She looks at the masses of hair. Trying to find a section. -- Until the thought comes that Valvalis could have hidden every bladed thing away from their house.]
You have scissors, or can you turn it into a braid?
[Action]
[She holds up a small pair of scissors.]
I should warn you, though, I've never cut hair before, not even my own.
[Action]
Thanks. [Daisy looks at a particular spot behind her.] Don't worry. Just cut anything so I can move around.
...
Cut small amounts. I don't want to risk the hair being stronger and losing the scissors.
[It seems like a commodity right now.]
[Action]
[So it just seems like good sense. Lifting up a very, very long lock of hair, Nel pulls it gently through her fingers until she's gotten to a point where, if cut, it'll fall down to about Daisy's hips. Much longer than she's used to, but manageable and if it works they can cut down more.
She brings the scissors up, slowly opening them for their first try at Daisy's hair. If it's as invincible as Valvalis's, they're about to find out.
Snip.]
[Action]
[The whole place should be ridiculous by anyone's standards.
Daisy looks expectanctly at the strand of hair. Were this not to work... Valvalis would be far too happy for the Chief's good.
But, she sighs in relaxation to see it cuts... Until she looks at the scissors. While successful, the effort almost dulls the sections of the blades.]
Power tools don't look excessive now. [She compares it to cutting wires. Soft hair with the hardness of wires, that is. She thinks of something.] Maybe some grown sections may have more worn hair... But Val's hair never seems to wear down.
[She bits her lip.]
[Action]
Lowering her hand to her hip, she slowly pulls out a long blade.]
It's probably going to come out looking very odd, but I'm positive you can't dull this edge. That is... Assuming you trust me enough to let me cut your hair with a sword.
[Action]
I do, Nel. Don't worry.
[She shifts herself to position the hair. Valvalis trusts her. Kirimi trusts her. So will Daisy.
That, and she was actually considering supernatural aid against this issue.]
[Action]
Gathering a large bundle into her hand, she lifts it and places the sword beneath. Then, slowly, carefully, she raises the blade. It slices through the supernaturally strong hair effortlessly, leaving that section dangling down to Daisy's mid-back. Nel grins in triumph.]
It did work. Excellent.
[Action]
And it works. She was afraid it wouldn't work for an instant. She turns towards Nel, now feeling less restraint.]
I didn't know what else would've worked at this point. Thank you so much, Nel.
[And... it feels curious. She hasn't had her hair this way since she was a child.]
[Action]
[While putting her sword back into the sheath at her side, she runs a hand through the hair absently, admiring it. At this length, it's still quite lovely.]
You don't mind it this long, I hope? It looks... quite good on you.
[Action]
Nel's hand makes her blush a little.]
I've been thinking about letting my hair grow, actually. As long as it fits in my helmet, I'll be okay with it.
... Val's been nagging me to do it for a while.
[In another thread, she had a field day with Daisy.]
[Action]
[She pulls her hand back when she sees the redness in Daisy's face.]
Ah... sorry.
[Action]
[Val's fault. She has made her blush with worse, Spartan laws of physical distance be damned.]
She wanted an excuse for me to have it long. Keeping it long after all these years it's...
[She moves her head, waving her blond hair. The weight is a little off-putting.]
Any pointers?
[Action]
[She thinks that over for a moment. She's never had hers any shorter than it is, discounting her child form.]
I'm not sure how much of my experience would be applicable to you, but one of the most important things is not to let it get dried out. It gets completely unmanageable if you do.
[Action]
[Not that it bothers her. She's been used to practical for too long.]
I'm going to need help learning how to keep it.
[Action]
As for helmets... [She tries to think if anyone she's ever met has even worn them, but nope.] I don't really have any previous experience, but I imagine it wouldn't be all that good for it.
[Action]
[She's learned to get used to the pressure the MJOLNIR puts on them, but even she needs to literally spread her wings once in a while, lest she goes crazier than in the shifts.
Daisy stands up.... picking a rather big load of hair.]
All's left is getting rid of this hair.
[Action]
[She gives Daisy an encouraging smile.]
Think you can do that with a little help?
[Action]
Good idea. [She makes mental calculations. Val has been the Spartan's personal instructor for wind magic.] A little. We just get it to the window, and we should be fine.
[The Spartan enters in a state of meditation. A deep state of zen in which she feels the wind as if it were a part of her.
She remembers the elemental's lessons. Send the wind in waves, like a soft whirlwind. Lift the hair with only a little movement. Even the tips could be picked to be pulled to the window.]
[Action]
I think we have it all.
[Action]
It's never specified how does thrash get managed in Luceti, but it does in some way.]
I should be good to get rid of this.
[She stands up to move towards the hair, but she instinctively looks behind her. It feels good to finally move freely, but the weight of her newly long hair... It's curious.
Might as well get used to it.]
Thank you so much for your help, Nel.
[She probably won't tell a word to Val. Poor girl will be heartbroken.]
