REPORT 016 :: UNEASY // WRITTEN | VOICE
[Daisy awakes in the middle of the night with the memories of her death, surrounded now by the piles of drawings and studies she had made after the last two battles over the month. All of them, drawn, noted, and observed from her helmet's video logs.
She removes her helmet, letting her armored fingers and palm caress her youthful face.
Between having fought in the draft, having been changed into a meek girl in the small moment of peace, and then narrowly surviving that thing -- "Mu", as her Captain called it... It is amazing enough that she was alive, let alone able to stand and help.
Her armor had taken a severe beating. Between injuries she had taken care of (some of them still recovering from, though), and both swords and lasers of the Murakumo unit, there were sections that would need repair. But with the fear she had that the threat could return, still as fanatic as ever, she could not warrant the days of maintenance it until the threat was proven to have been -truly- neutralized. The caves.
If Shirou Emiya and Rin Tohsaka were here, they could have repaired her armor, and have the Spartan in 100% fighting condition in no time.
The Chief Petty Officer sighs, still looking at the drawings and sketches of Mu-12's body and weapons. It annoyed her the most knowing that the enemy had been in Luceti before, but that the guide had not even written anything about her.
She was familiar with ONI Classified BS. But the little information they had about Mu-12 unnerved her. How much did Adell know, even if they were rumors? If that thing had been here in the past, why hadn't she attacked before? If they all turned out to know something... why were they hiding all of this?]
[Daisy was not going to sleep much tonight. She leaves a few brief text messages, expecting them to be attended in the morning. First thing, letting people know she had survived this month.]
S-23 here. I'm ok.
[ENCRYPTED TO SMITHY PERSONNEL]
What is the tech level you guys can work with?
[ENCRYPTED TO PAPRIKA]
Is there a way to get over bad memories?
[The nutcase that loves combat and whose relative sanity depends on it, also has recurring nightmares of the moment she died. Especially so with her brush against Mu-12.]
[ENCRYPTED TO ROBERT HASTINGS]
[She hadn't seen much of Robert lately. Helios had mentioned he was still alive, but...]
Are you alright?
[Finally, there is one last message she wants to make. The Chief had heard there had been a lot of casualties with the battle against Mu... And she hadn't heard of either Valvalis, or Kirimi. It is the only message with voice.]
[ENCRYPTED TO VALVALIS]
Mind if I come over?

S-sure...
[Private]
[Daisy was preparing to leave her apartment, but the unusal tone... It worries her. The Spartan wishes her suspicions about Mu being responsible are mistaken.]
Re: [Private]
[[She's still been crying about the loss of her father. Well, temporary loss, and it's technically not the first time he's "died", but, it was the first she's been privy to, and helpless towards.]]
[Private]
...
What's happening?
[Daisy's words trail off. Valvalis put her back together when Daisy needed her. She owed her too much to leave her now.]
[Private]
[Private -> Action]
Val... I'm so sorry.
[There is silence over the other side of the comm.
Some time later, a tall girl with bandages hidden beneath her red jumpsuit opens slowly opens the door.
Daisy has been paranoid with these last days. But treating an emotionally wounded person needed the same delicacy as if it were a physically injured one.
For more selfish reasons, she did not want Val to see what had happened to her armor -to her-. The fact it was the second brush she's ever had with death.]
[Action]
Fortunately, she was too preoccupied to notice it, and upon seeing Daisy, she falls into her, sobbing and throwing her arms around her.]]
[Action]
Daisy doesn't know if she would ever tell Valvalis that she was already dead.
The taller girl says nothing. Her arms surround the elemental, and her hand holds her head. Spartans were not good with words, but she would be here for Valvalis. For all she did for Daisy. For being her shoulder to cry on.
She holds her in silence for a long time. She was alive. She had survived. She was still here.]
Re: [Action]
However, none of that was on her mind. She was far to lost in the thoughts of her loss. Her arms tighten as best they can around Daisy, sobbing into her shoulder.]]
[Action]
Daisy doesn't know what else to say. She holds Valvalis in silence, letting her cry.]
I'm so sorry.
[Val needed to remain in bed. It has been a hard week. She needed the time to mull it over.]
Re: [Action]
Eventually, Val would have to get over it and stop crying... There's no way she could keep crying forever... She hadn't the energy to really do it either.]]
C-can we go somewhere, Daisy?
[Action]
She pulls back a little, then nods.]
Yeah. Let's.
Re: [Action]
Nel went out for a bit... I haven't eaten today either...
[Action]
[Daisy directs her friend with patience outside. She doesn't believe the place would be open during these times. The Spartan was no chef, but knew the basics of cooking.
...
The girl hoped the memory of her during that shift would crack a smile in Val's face.]
Re: [Action]
[Action]
You have to know how to cook to survive in both the wilderness and in bases without a cook, after all. Even Daisy is smart enough not to use a rice cooker in an open fire. Indoors.]
I'm not a chef, but I hold myself. There's got to be meat and other things there.
Re: [Action]
That's right... You spent a day cooking with her. [[She's slow, slouching and dragging her feet, but she's following along.]]
[Action]
They walk through the road, close to the river.]
...What would you like?
Re: [Action]
She's even waking, not floating or anything, though she is keeping her hair off the ground.]]
[Action]
Once opening the door of Seventh Heaven, Daisy offers her hand to Valvalis, to try and direct her to the kitchen. But she would spend a minute beforehand to softly pull the whole legendary five meters of golden locks into the building.]
...Sorry, Val.
Re: [Action]
Sorry? What for, Daisy?
[Action]
[And dropping it now would seem impolite.]
[Action]
[Action]
She directs the elemental to the kitchen, and pulling over a chair and table for the two of them, she picks a tiny box of cut vegetables from the stand, and some unfrozen meat from the fridge.
...
Let's see how much did Daisy learn from Charlotte.]
This will take a while.
Re: [Action]
Eventually, she lays her head down, watching the Spartan move. Not knowing how to cook herself, really, she watches without much comment.]]
